Footage Youth Dance Company
Footage is a non-competitive dance company dedicated to empowering and inspiring young dancers by fostering creativity, discipline, and a deep appreciation for the art of dance. Our mission is to provide dancers with the opportunity to experience a professional dance atmosphere while serving as the face of Feet First in our community. Through high-quality training, innovative choreography, and meaningful performance opportunities, we cultivate confidence, teamwork, and artistic expression.
This company focuses primarily on creating content in the modern and contemporary style. We have select performances throughout our year that include; Dance For Her, Phoenixville’s Christmas Tree Lighting, The Christmas Spectacular, Phoenixville’s Earth day Event, DelAwareness, the Dogwood Parade, and our annual Footage Spring Showcase.
Anyone interested in joining Footage must audition. Auditions are held in May. (Ages of dancers invited to audition may vary year to year). We are looking for dancers who are seeking a space to dive into the artistry of dance. Who want a place to develop their craft as a performer and artist. We are not about producing dances to just produce dances on a stage. We are looking for heart, and passion. So if that’s you…. We hope to see you at our Footage auditions!
Our company is divided into two performance groups: Junior Company and Senior Company. After auditions, dancers are thoughtfully placed in the group that will best challenge and support their development. Placement is based on technique, choreography retention, and performance quality.
Company members are required to attend the Footage Dance intensive in the summer (dates TBD), attend company rehearsals every Friday evening from 5-7pm, and take 2-3 techniques classes a week, one of them being ballet. All members are required to sign a contract; claiming their role and responsibilities in this company. Dancers are also required to wear black dance attire to all Footage rehearsals, and purchase Footage team gear.
Throughout the year, we plan activities that help strengthen friendships and build a sense of community, including:
Big/Little Program connecting Junior and Senior Company members
Christmas Party
End-of-the-Year Banquet
Fundraising Opportunities that encourage teamwork and shared goals
Being part of our company means learning how to be a great teammate. We encourage dancers to show up for one another, cheer each other on, and work together in and out of the studio. Teamwork doesn’t always come naturally — it’s something we practice, grow into, and learn from along the way.
Through dance, our goal is to help students build respect, confidence, and positive connections with their peers, creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued.
