Modern/Contemporary

Modern/Contemporary combines the technical foundations of modern and contemporary dance with opportunities for creative exploration and artistic expression. Dancers will develop strength, alignment, flexibility, musicality, and movement quality through structured technique training while exploring improvisation, partnering, floor work, and choreographic concepts. Technique focuses on dancers gaining knowledge in the Graham technique. Classes may incorporate props, storytelling, and movement studies that encourage dancers to think beyond traditional movement patterns and discover their unique artistic voice. This class challenges dancers to grow as both skilled technicians and expressive performers.

Dress code: Tight form fitted clothing-leotards, tank tops, leggings, and compression shorts are all acceptable. No baggy t-shirts or sweat pants. It is important for the teacher to see the dancers body alignment. Hair should be pulled back and out of the dancers face. No jewelry.

Please note: Dance shoes should not be worn outside of the studio (For example, to and from the car!)
